VISUALIZATION EXACT SOLUTIONS OF THE NONLINEAR SCHRODINGER EQUATION AS A TOOL TO UNDERSTAND THE OPTICAL SOLITON CONCEPT

Abstrak: 

Optical waves as solutions to the nonlinear Schrodinger’s equation (NLSE) which is a non-linear Partial DifferentialEquation (PDE) of third order have been of some interest in optical communication. The paper’s aim is to present an analyticalexact solution to the NLSE equation by means of variable separation method that can be understood by undergraduate physicsstudent. The visualization of the soliton as the exact solution of NLSE are presented in order to help the student to understanddeeply the concept of soliton.
