KAJIAN AWAL ANALISIS KUALITATIF UNSUR KARBON (C) DENGAN METODE ANALISIS AKTIVASI NEUTRON GAMMA SERENTAK
PRELIMINARY STUDY QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS OF CARBON (C) ELEMENT USING PROMPT GAMMA FASTNEUTRON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS. National nuclear energy agency (BATAN) has neutrón generator which can produce 14 MeVfast neutrón from D + T reaction. This machine has been applied for analysis of element contents using fast neutron activation analysis(FNAA). But carbón analysis can not be detected by using FNAA method. In this case elemental analysis of carbón can be done usingPGFNA (prompt gamma fast neutrón activation analysis).method. PGFNAA is usefull and sensitive for analysis of light elements suchas C, N, O, which are not easy to be detected using other analytical techniques. In preliminary experiment, grafit samples with certainweight were bombarded with 14 MeV fast neutrón for 30 minutes, while prompt gamma from the sample were counted in-situ usinggamma spectrometry using NaI(Tl) detector with 20% eficiency. Experiment result showed the 4.43 MeV gamma energy, according toreference that the 4,43 MeV gamma energy is emmited by carbon isotop from neutrón inelastic scattering reaction.
