ANALYSIS OF Pc3 LOW-LATITUDE MAGNETIC PULSATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH MAGNETIC STORMS ON OCTOBER 2003
Magnetic storm on October 2003 associated with solar flare which followed by CME (coronal mass ejection) date 28-29Oktober 2003. Shock at the magnetopause that corresponds with the magnetic storms is called as storm sudden commencementwhich indicates compression to the Earth’s magnetosphere. The interaction between solar wind and Earth’s magnetic fieldgenerated various hydromagnetic signal. The Pc3 magnetic pulsations is one of the hydromagnetic signal with period between 10– 45 seconds. This pulsation is believed tobe generated at the magnetopause and propagate through magnetosphere andionosphere, then can be obser ved by using ground-based magnetometer. Characteristics of Pc3 magnetic pulsation have goodcorrelation with the speed of solar wind. In this paper we analyzed amplitude of Pc3 magnetic pulsations during magnetic stormson 29-30 October, 2003. We also analyzed effect of shock in the solar wind to the amplitude of Pc3 magnetic pulsation. We usedthe magnetometer data of Biak station, ACE and Dst index. To extract Pc3 magnetic pulsations we applied second order ofButterworth filter and using Hamming windowing.
